Responsibilities
Receiving general direction from the Security Operations Manager, incumbent ensures a safe and secure environment, provides protective service and response for protection of the people and property of the Hospital, is responsible for the overall supervision of his/her assigned shift, personnel, and shift operations.
- Supervises on-site Security Officers and Concierges assigned to respective shift; recommends various personnel actions including hiring, promotion, transfer and termination.
- Executes corrective action as necessary.
- May be assigned to off-site facility and responsible for supervision of respective Security Officer FTEs as well as general oversight of facility security operations.
- Exercises independent judgment in the implementation, application, and enforcement of laws, regulations, and Institute policies.
- Assigns personnel to their daily scheduled duties, reviews all pass on information, logs, journals, forms and reports since last tour of duty to ensure continuity of services and provide appropriate follow up; monitors line staff performance ensuring adherence to Department / Institute policies and procedures; ensures Department philosophy and expectations for customer service are met; ensures adequate coverage for the next shift and special details.
- Facilitates shift training of personnel. Assists with New Employee Orientation, On the Job Training and In-Service training of personnel and promotes their growth and development. Documents personnel training records and tracks completion, certification, re-certification and general compliance standards are updated as needed.
- Prepares reports and routine correspondence.
- Gathers, assembles, analyzes, evaluate, and utilizes facts and evidence. Interviews victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects.
- Performs all duties of Security Officer in addition to duties noted above.
- Responsible for the performance of additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma. Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred. A combination of experience and education will also be considered.
- Three years supervisory experience required. Five or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- The ability to be licensed as a Special State Police Officer under the Commonwealth of MA General Laws Chapter 22 C, section 63 strongly preferred. If licensed, must consistently meet all training and other requirements for continued licensure preferred but not required.
- Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department):
- CPR/AED/First Aid
- Narcan (Naloxone) Training
- AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training
- International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification (within first 90 days)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Multi-language skills a plus.
